Tenkara

Tenkara is a form of traditional Japanese fly fishing that uses only a rod and a fixed-length line. The line is typically the length of the rod or slightly longer. It is a very simple form of fishing - one of its great attributes - most suitable for small stream fishing. I also find it great for fishing along brush covered pond and lake shores.

Recently, TenkaraUSA reintroduced tenkara and tenkara rods, lines, and flies to the US and European markets. We enhance TenkaraUSA rods with custom grips in bamboo, rattan, birch bark and other natural materials. We'll publish photos and more information on these in September. We also hand-tie a traditional tenkara fly used by tenkara master Dr. Ishigaki. This is the only fly Dr. Ishigaki uses! That is simplicity.
