Following the success of our Production Furling Machines, we've developed this machine with the goal of creating a quality machine at an affordable price. These machines produce professional-quality furled leaders or tenkara lines. The new Version 5 model improvements include improved shafts, gears, hook design and hook attachment.

Features:

• Body is 2.5" wide x 2.7" tall
• V5 Delrin body and gears are precision laser cut
• V5 now has phosphor bronze thrust washers for increased durability
• Reversable plates prodvide two mounting options (see Figures 1 and 2 below)
• Designed to run up to 2500 RPM (the speed of a typical electric drill)
• Three hooks furls both two and three leg leaders and lines
• Center "reverse furl" hook
• Comes with mounting screws, ready to attach to your furling board or base

This machine will pay for itself quickly considering the cost of commercial furled tenkara lines ($25) and furled leaders ($15) and you can produce exactly the taper, length and weight you want with either two or three legs! Note that most commerical furled leaders have two legs. Three legged leaders and tenkara lines are less stretchy and have a smaller cross-section than an equivalent two legged leader. This results in better wind penetration and less drift drag.

There is lots of information on how to furl two legged leaders and lines on the Web (but be aware, there are as many ways to furl as there are fish in the stream!).
