This is a special workshop for attendees of the Arts of the Angler show in Danbury, CT on November 12, 2011 from 11am to 2pm. This Workshop is limited to 10 attendees and is a great introduction to making hand-crafted fly reels.
Reelsmith Michael Hackney will start with a short overview of the tools and techniques used. The Workshop includes the Reel Kit and all supplies, tools and instruction needed to complete it. Prepare to spend 3 (sometimes slightly more) hours to complete your reel. Your $135 registration fee includes the $10 admission to the Arts of the Angler show.
About the Reel
The reel for the Arts of the Angler Workshop is a 3" diameter brass reel with a click check, but can be assembled with a silent friction check. Photos of the actual reel will be posted here in the next couple of weeks.
Here is a photo of the Workshop offered at the Catskills Bamboo Rodbuilders Gathering on September 9, 2011.
