The 2011 Catskill Rodmakers Gathering Reelsmithing Workshop

Building on the success and really fun time we had last year I've decided to do something special for the Gathering Workshop. Starting with this year's Workshop, I am creating a special reel for Gathering attendees. These reels will build on previous Workshop reels and will feature new designs, materials, check mechanisms, finish details, etc. I also plan to solicit Workshop attendees for their input on the next year's reel. Based on the feedback I received last year, I think I've come up with a Gathering Reel that will appeal to everyone!

Here is what is in store for the 2011 Catskill Rodmakers Gathering Reelsmithing Workshop:

This year's Gathering Reel is a classy looking aluminum raised pillar frame with black spool plates and features a click check mechanism (see attached photo). The reel is 3" from top of pillar ear-to-pillar ear and weighs 3.2oz/91gms. It is perfect for 3 to 5 weight lines. Extra details include:

• a recessed handle retaining screw
• a custom aluminum handle bolster
• matte finished black spool side plates
• click check mechanism with your choice of a light or heavy click (can also be converted to a silent check if desired)
• custom spool retainer
• our unique "interrupted pillar" frame design
• custom frame assembly screws
• the bottom of each reel foot will be stamped "CRG 2011"
